![]() Their debut release, Phantom Force' has already found a prominent place in the sets of DJs as Grooverider, Fabio, Goldie, Storm, Randall, Andy C, Hype, Ed Rush and Optical alongside a whole host of others. It arose from the desire to have their own base where there was no set musical agenda. ![]() In 1998 Digital teamed up with friend & Producer Duncan Busto a.k.a. To follow was a host of releases for likes of Moving Shadow, Photek Productions and Creative Source. ![]() His first solo release was Touch Me' on Timeless Recordings in 1995 but it was the phenomenal Spacefunk'' also on Timeless that really showcased his talents alongside tracks such as Down Under' on Metalheadz that put his name firmly on the map. Steve got to know Rupert Parkes, best known as Photek, around town in Ipswich who helped him get underway on his own studio. The two eventually joined forces to produce Split Personality' for Certificate 18 under the guise of Authorized Riddim in '94. Digital started hiring out his sound system to various promoters having raves in and around Ipswich, this is when he started checking out the scene and its music.ġ991 was also the year Digital met Danny.C. Around 1991 the scene started to grow heavily in Ipswich and the surroundings areas. From about 1989 to 1991 Digital was busy "running around playing reggae" with sound systems, till the fateful period when "all this rave business crept in. His musical tag & skills come from his knack at tampering with electronic equipment from the early age of fourteen. Main influences being from his father having run a sound system for about thirty years. Digital has been involved in music all of his life, particularly reggae. (1) Digital aka Steve Carr is the primary musical moniker this Ipswich based producer is known exclusively for his "old skool beatz" and "dubby B-lines" but a short conversation and a little investigative listening indicate this is one producer likely to pull a few seriously weighty tricks out of the bag. The latest news from the Dispatch Facebook feed has unveiled the tracklisting for Vol.3 including Break & DLR’s Murmur VIP, a new VIP of DLR’s Tugboat and a fresh new DLR track in the form of Regeneration, while Ant TC1’s latest mix for Bassic reveals that Zero T & Alix Perez’s 2007 banger Ladders is set to finally receive a release via the Dubplate series.(2) Digital is also an alias of Wolfgang Voigt on his "Intoleratio" (1996) Volume 1 has already sold out on the Dispatch store and volume 2 looks set to follow, so head over to Redeye or the Dispatch store swiftly if you want to pick up the vinyl releases digital is set to follow from November 10th. 2 is no slouch either, with Survival serving up the Outlook VIP of Dub Soldier and the flip featuring two fresh cuts from SCAR, including a vinyl only VIP of Call To Arms. The theme from the series so far has been no nonsense rolling techstep, with the first release featuring a big dirty Break remix of DLR, Hydro, Mako & Villem’s The Formula and DLR & Xtrah’s long sought after Direct Approach. Featuring new tracks, remixes and VIPs from the Dispatch Stable (including one vinyl exclusive track per release) and a limited press of 300 copies per release, vinyl fans will need to be quick off the block to lay hands on these! As if all that wasn’t enough there’s two big fat stomping VIPs of Tugboat on offer to boot! The deeper “Generated” mix lands as a dubplate exclusive, while the digital edition features the chunkier “Metamorphosis” mix. We’re also treated to two mixes of nearly lost DLR track Regeneration, a distinctly Konflict-ex slice of moody techstep. If you’ve seen either of them play out in the last year you’ve probably heard this one smashing up the dance! As if the impending release of his debut solo LP wasn’t enough, DLR is back at it for Dispatch with the third release in their super-limited edition Dispatch Dubplate series, and the tracks on offer are pretty damn tasty! DLR & Break go in on a VIP of Murmur, twisting up the original with a longer intro and some gnarly bass modulations.
